愚公移山 （yú gong yí shān； Foolish old man move mountain）

愚公移山: means with dogged perseverance everything is possible.

Once upon a time, there was an old man. People called him Yugong (Foolish man). He was about 90 years old. In front of his home there were two mountains that cased great inconvenience to his family. To go anywhere they had to climb over the mountain. Yugong decided to remove the two mountains. Another old man called Zhisou (Wise man) lived near the Yellow River. When he heard of Yugong’s plan he laughed, saying, “Yugong is foolish. He is so old and the mountains are so big. How can he remove them?” But Yugong replied, “If I cannot finish my work, my children, grandchildren and their descendants will continue my efforts. Eventually, we will move the mountain.” Yugong’s determination impressed the Lord of Heaven, so he sent two supernatural beings to help move the two mountains away.

This story shows that with dogged perseverance everything is possible.
